The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has issued Donsoco Energy® Kenya Limited, a subsidiary name brand of Donsoco Holdings Corporation, an approval to accept and manage unlimited investment funds in accounts maintained at Guaranty Trust Bank Kenya Limited and Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Ltd or other Kenya banks for promotion of economic growth and development of energy projects approved by Government of Kenya Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MEP), pursuant to Central Bank of Kenya Act, Chapter 49, Revised Edition 2015 [2014].
This authorization enables said commercial banks to transact, effect, and receive payments from other local and external-international financial institutions in Kenya shillings and foreign currencies on behalf of Donsoco Energy® Kenya, for settlement of interbank obligations on a real time basis through CBK Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system. Moreover, this approval is correspondingly in line with Kenya Investment Promotion Centre Act Cap 485, which key purposes are assisting and empowering inclusive green investments in Kenya such as the development of “Donsoco Shimoni Ecologic Project” in the following manner:
(a) to promote investments in Kenya by local and foreign business enterprises;
(b) to liaise with the Central Bank on matters relating to exchange control;
(c) to liaise with the relevant Ministries responsible for approving all new private sector projects and expansion of existing projects;
(d) to assist business enterprises in implementing the projects approved by the relevant Ministries;
(e) to monitor the performance of the projects approved by the relevant Ministries and compliance with the conditions of approval;
(f) to assist all business enterprises in overcoming managerial, institutional and bureaucratic problems;
(g) to advise the Government periodically on changes in policies, strategies and administrative procedures necessary for the promotion and enhancement of investments in Kenya;
(h) to conduct economic appraisal of Government sponsored projects at the request of the Government;
(i) to exercise all functions and powers and perform all duties which, under or by virtue of any other written law, are or may be vested, or delegated to it.
Donsoco Shimoni Ecologic Project inclusive green investment approval from Kenya Central Bank forms an important part of the broad environmental, social, and governance considerations that underpin sustainable investment in Kenya. Likewise, the Donsoco Shimoni Ecologic Project supports economic growth and employment in a clean, resilient, and sustainable manner with its initiatives to efficiently use Kenya’s resources, reduce pollution, and mitigate environmental damage, while providing a sound solution to Kenya’s energy-water-food shortages with substantive benefits to the low-income segments of the population.
